The A.W.E. logo, designed by Nisqually artist Kyle Sanchez, and Christopher Gerber, brings together powerful symbolism from Norse mythology, Coast Salish design, and ecological philosophy.
At the heart of the design are two ravens, inspired by Huginn and Muninn, the mythic birds of Odin who embody knowledge and facts (left brain) and intuition and inspiration (right brain). Their mirrored forms represent balance, duality, and the dynamic exchange between analytical and creative ways of knowing.
One raven carries knotwork patterns, evoking the intertwining of all systems—ecological, cultural, and spiritual—underscoring the deep interconnection that sustains life. The other raven incorporates Coast Salish design elements, signifying Indigenous stewardship and restorative action, while grounding the symbol in the lands and waters of the Salish Sea.
Encircling these elements is the name A.W.E., representing the organization’s mission:
Habitat restoration and environmental education through collaborative art.
This logo expresses the vision of Artists With Ecology to honor ancestral knowledge, embrace creativity, and co-create with community and environment for a regenerative future.
